Based on the American Summer Camp model, Sugar Bay stands out head and shoulders above every other South African camp.
We are the only resort in South Africa that has been specifically designed and built as a children-only resort. Holiday camps are our primary specialty and school tours are a secondary service that we offer out of the holiday season. During the school term, we invite a select group of schools to come and experience Sugar Bay for themselves.
We offer sleepover camps for children between the ages of 7 and 17 years old. Our various transport options allow kids and teens from all over South Africa, and from all over the world to enjoy the best school holiday they've ever had.
We offer the Sugar Bay International Academy to anyone over the age of 17, looking to do a gap year or obtain certifications in various fields. Visit www.sugarbay.world for more information.
Give your child the holiday of a lifetime!

WHERE ARE WE?
WHAT EXACTLY DO WE DO?
HOW ARE WE DIFFERENT?
Sugar Bay Holiday Camp is located in the beautiful seaside village of Zinkwazi Beach where the rolling hills of sugar cane meet the warm Indian Ocean.
On the North Coast of Kwa-Zulu Natal, South Africa, Sugar Bay is only a 40-minute drive from Durban’s King Shaka International Airport.
We offer airport transfers to/from King Shaka International Airport, as well as a bus charter service to/from Sandton in Gauteng. These transport options allow kids from all over the globe to fly or catch a bus to Sugar Bay.
Set on a secure 16-acre property, we have private access to the Zinkwazi lagoon and waterfront, endless beaches and year-round great weather. It's the perfect location for a kids-only holiday.
Our location means that we have warm, tropical weather throughout the year, and so we really do offer summer camps all year round.
We strive to host the best adventure holiday camps for kids and teens.
We are open every school holiday, and specialise in hosting holiday camps for children which are based on the American summer camp model.
We hold 6, 7 and 12 day camps throughout the year, and each camp has a different theme which informs the decor and itinerary for the week. This ensures that each visit to our camp is unique.
Out of the school holiday season, Sugar Bay invites a select group of schools and associations to join us for fun, team building or educational group tours, in which we tailor-make a program to fit each group's needs and preferences.
Our co-educational program is small enough to get to know everyone, yet large enough to have age-specific games and activities.
Sugar Bay is the first American-style summer camp in South Africa. We have over 19 years of experience in providing a safe and fun holiday destination for children.
We offer over 100 activities, and have a free choice system, in which children may choose what activities they want to participate in. There are no compulsory activities.
Our 1:3 staff to child ratio is the highest in the country, and 24 hour supervision ensures that your children are kept extra safe while having the time of their lives.
Our camp counselors are specifically trained and experienced in the growth and developmental needs of the different age groups, as well as Emergency First Aid & CPR. We also have our own qualified lifeguards who accompany the children to the beach, lagoon and swimming pool.
WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING ABOUT US:
MAKING HEADLINES - WHAT THE MEDIA IS SAYING ABOUT SUGAR BAY:
"I planned my way-too-brief visit to Sugar Bay to coincide with the camp’s 15th birthday...To say I was impressed is an understatement. I was completely blown away with what I saw and experienced...The camp’s counsellors are truly remarkable and their impeccable training, sheer delight at working with children, their empathy, sense of fun, and attention to safety protocols are evident no matter what activity is underway or what time of day it is. In a world short of positive role models, Sugar Bay’s counsellors, and extended staff, offer friendship, advice and encouragement in abundance. Time and again during my visit, I witnessed this first hand.."

"Take a bunch of children. Add a dash of tropical weather and a heap of fun. Fold in a team of high-spirited counsellors. Remove the parents and leave to simmer. The result: a place where kids and teens can be anything they want to be...It wasn’t merely the activities that captured me but rather the young guests’ safety and wellbeing. As a mother, I know the paranoia that comes with leaving your kids in an unfamiliar environment...Which is why the highlight of my visit was watching the Sugar Bay counsellors at work. They’re best described as a special breed: young adults with a zest for life, unlimited patience and infinite energy."
